Colorful Holiday Design Background Tiles

 

This tutorial will produce a colorful holiday design background pattern great for holiday and celebration pages that can be used with both double and triple background sets.

For this tutorial - you will need the following:

Paint Shop Pro 7 or demo which you can download here.

Sandy Blair's Simple Filters that you can download here.  For this tutorial, we will be using the Centre Tile  Filter.
 

Step 1

Go to your style palette and choose a color for your tile.  Also locate the Crumpled Paper texture and set up your Style Palette as you see here:

Step 2

Open a new image 200 width by 200 height and where  it says Background Color choose Foreground Color.   Your image should now be the same color as the color in your top color box of your Styles palette.

Step 3

Now go back to your Styles palette and change your Foreground color to a lighter color of the same color family and where you have your Crumpled Paper texture, click on the arrow to the left of it, moving the Crumpled Paper Texture to the box above.  Your Styles and Texture palette should now look like this:

 

Flood fill your graphic three (3) times with your lighter color and texture.  Your graphic should now look like this:

Step 4

Go to Effects/Artistic Effects/Colored Pencil and apply these settings:

Your image should now look like this:

Step 5

Go to Effects/Edge/Enhance and your image will now look like this:

Step 6

Go to Effects/Reflection Effects/Kaleidoscope and apply these settings: Horizontal Offset -45, Vertical Offset 23, Rotation Angle 90, Scale Factor 17, Number of Petals 4, Number of Orbits 0, Radial Suction 36

Your tile will now look like this:

Step 7

Lastly, go to Effects/Plug-in Filters/Simple/Centre Tile and your completed tile will look like this:

 

These are very festive looking tiles and will work well with holiday, fun and celebration pages.  Here are some examples of this colorful design pattern using different solid colors and the Crumpled Paper texture.
